The Lion King Jr. Auditions

Conshohocken Theater in the Parks is pleased to announce the audition date for its 2026 production of The Lion King Jr.

 

Audition Dates:
Saturday, February 28, 2026 - 10:00am–2:00pm - St. Mark's Lutheran Church

Monday, March 16, 2026 - 5:00pm - 8:00pm - Conshohocken United Methodist Church

Tuesday, March 16, 2026 - 5:00pm - 8:00pm - Conshohocken United Methodist Church

Saturday, March 21, 2026 - 10:00am - 2:00pm - St. Mark's Lutheran Church

Process: Participants will select a one-hour audition time slot. Materials will be posted on our website on or around February 14. We encourage young performers to prepare for their audition by joining our Chmielewski Theater Education Program. This program is offered at no cost to help youth performers prepare for their auditions and learn more about theater production. Learn more.

Callbacks: At the discretion of the director, callbacks may be issued by invitation.  Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, March 24 from 5:00-7:00pm. Callback instructions will be sent to selected participants during the week of March 22. All participants will be held in the community room before being guided to their respective callback places.

Performance Dates

The Lion King Jr. (All Kids) - Four performances on weekends, June 5–13

Showtimes: 1:00pm and 3:00pm

Rehearsals

Rehearsals for The Lion King, Jr. will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays only: 6:00 – 8:00pm.

Rehearsals will run from April 7 - June 4, 2026.

Character Breakdown​

Young Simba

Suggested Age Range: 8–11
Vocal Range: Soprano or Alto
Young Simba is playful and energetic. The singer should be comfortable singing bright, happy songs and moving a lot onstage.

 

Simba

Suggested Age Range: 12–17
Vocal Range: Tenor
Older Simba must show growth and bravery. The singer should have a confident voice and be able to sing clearly with feeling.

 

Young Nala

Suggested Age Range: 8–11
Vocal Range: Soprano
Young Nala is curious and bold. The singer should have a clear, light voice and enjoy singing in groups.

 

Nala

Suggested Age Range: 12–17
Vocal Range: Soprano or Alto
Nala is strong and brave. The singer should be confident and able to sing with emotion and strength.

 

Mufasa

Suggested Age Range: 13–17
Vocal Range: Bass
Mufasa is calm, wise, and strong. The voice should sound steady and warm, more focused on storytelling than big notes.

 

Sarabi

Suggested Age Range: 12–17
Vocal Range: Alto
Sarabi is caring and strong. The singer should blend well with others and sing with confidence and calm.

 

Scar

Suggested Age Range: 12–17
Vocal Range: Bass or Tenor
Scar is sneaky and dramatic. The singer should focus on clear words and acting through song instead of singing loudly.

 

Rafiki

Suggested Age Range: 12–17
Vocal Range: Alto or Tenor
Rafiki is playful and wise. The singer should be confident singing alone and leading group songs or chants.

 

Zazu

Suggested Age Range: 10–16
Vocal Range: Tenor
Zazu is fast‑talking and funny. The singer should have good timing and be able to sing in a talk‑sing style.

 

Timon

Suggested Age Range: 10–16
Vocal Range: Tenor
Timon is silly and energetic. The singer should be comfortable singing while acting funny and moving around.

 

Pumbaa

Suggested Age Range: 10–16
Vocal Range: Bass
Pumbaa is kind and gentle. The singer should have a warm voice and focus on clear storytelling.

 

Shenzi

Suggested Age Range: 11–17
Vocal Range: Alto
Shenzi is loud, bossy, and funny. The singer should enjoy big character choices and group singing.

 

Banzai

Suggested Age Range: 11–17
Vocal Range: Tenor
Banzai is goofy and wild. The singer should be confident singing in a group and playing an over‑the‑top character.

 

Ed

Suggested Age Range: 10–16
Vocal Range: Any
Ed is silly and physical. This role focuses more on acting and movement than singing.

 

ENSEMBLE (Animals of the Pride Lands)

Suggested Age Range: 8–17
Vocal Range: Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Bass

The ensemble plays animals, lions, birds, and creatures of the Pride Lands. Ensemble members sing together, move together, and help create the world of the show. Clear singing, good listening skills, and teamwork are most important.
