Chmielewski Theater Education Program

PlayMakers

PlayMakers is an eight-week theater education program where young people work together to create an original one-act show inspired by a topic, issue, or event that feels meaningful and relevant to them.

Participants will explore acting, storytelling, character, melody, movement, collaboration, and the process of bringing a new piece of theater from idea to stage. Older teen participants will also have opportunities to serve as student leaders, helping guide younger performers and taking on added responsibility throughout the creative process. There are both on-stage and behind-the-scenes roles available.

The program culminates in a final performance of the original show created by the ensemble.

PlayMakers is part of the Chmielewski Theater Education Program at Conshy Theater. It is offered free of charge thanks to the generous support of our community. We believe young people should have the opportunity to explore theater, build confidence, and create together regardless of their ability to pay.

The program emphasizes hands-on learning and gives young people an active role in the creative process, helping them understand not only how theater is performed, but how it is made.
